Project: 1947

Designer: Sergio Spaggiari

Artists: not credited

Solo Mode: no

Complexity: medium-heavy

Risk: HIGH

Summary: “A railroad game inspired by the 18xx series and set in India between 1836 and 1947. The game features 11 companies renowned in the history of Indian railways. Players open the various railway companies, buy and sell their shares on the market, and develop a railway network across India as they compete to become the sub-continent’s richest railway mogul. 1947 offers several unique and challenging new features not found in other 18xx titles. In the Stock Round players may purchase (and sell), not only the traditional ‘Ordinary Shares’ found in an 18xx, but also ‘Savings Shares’ and Convertible Bonds. Savings Shares, while still being a 10% shareholding, only count as ‘half’ of a Certificate towards the player’s overall Certificate Limit – with the catch that they also pay out only half of the value of a full dividend. Convertible Bonds meanwhile, allow a Company to raise additional Treasury funds and for its President to Price Protect their own shareholdings in the Company against sales by other players.”

Project: Volfyirion Guilds

Designer: Alessandro Veracchi (Volfyirion)

Artists: Travis Anderson (Icaion, Mysthea, Volfyirion), Andrea Butera (Legends of Novus)

Publisher: Tabula Games (Barbarians: The Invasion, Mysthea, Volfyirion)

Genre/Mechanisms: card drafting, card game, deck building, fantasy

Player Count: 1-2

Solo Mode: yes

Complexity: medium-light

Risk: medium-low

Summary: “Set in the wonderful world of Mysthea, Volfyirion Guilds events take place immediately after the previous title, Volfyirion, and about sixty years before the events of Mysthea. The game retains all the features and mechanics from its predecessor, indeed it’s a competitive and fast-paced deck-building card game for two players. At the same time, however, it adds more depth to the gameplay, thanks to 110 new cards, including new card types, abilities, and mechanics. In addition, the game has renewed the solo mode: now you can fight against Mysthea world epic creatures, each of which has its own features and rules. Volfyrion Guilds can be played as a standalone game or combined with the classic Volfyrion and this amplifies the alternatives for players.”
